Objective
To work closely with our Director of Property Development to provide oversight, strategic guidance, and recommendations to the Board of Directors of One City Peterborough regarding the management of the organization's properties. This includes the acquisition of new properties, maintenance and capital repairs of existing properties, and ensuring properties are aligned with One City Peterborough's mission, values, and financial sustainability.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Within a committee setting:
Identify and evaluate opportunities for acquiring new properties aligned with One City Peterborough's goals and strategic priorities, including financial analysis.
Assess capital repair and maintenance requirements for current properties and properties that One City will potentially purchase.
Review and recommend capital budgets and timelines for repairs, renovations, and upgrades.
Ensure that properties remain in good condition to meet program needs and safety standards.
Identify and mitigate any potential risks associated with properties.
Ensure that properties are being used efficiently and generate appropriate rental returns where applicable.
Explore opportunities for increasing the energy efficiency of properties and promoting environmentally sustainable practices. Recommend upgrades to enhance the long-term sustainability of the properties.
Ensure that property decisions align with the broader mission of One City Peterborough, supporting the needs of vulnerable populations.
Commitment
We are looking for someone who is able to commit to four in-person meetings per year, as well as receiving email updates from the Director of Property Development. Beyond the quarterly meetings, the work is done at the time that works for you. We hope we can find people who are excited to delve into this committee work, take ownership, provide feedback, and be excited to shape the work we do in Property Development.
Qualifications
Competent in one or more of the following areas:
Financial analysis including loan acquisition knowledge
Housing construction and/or capital repairs
Real estate
Affordable housing experience
Committed to working from One City’s values of belonging, dignity, courage, trust, and love
Interested in housing acquisition processes
