Community Development
An important part of our vision is a Peterborough that has inclusive public spaces and programs for people to participate, create, and connect.
Our Community Development Program aims to meet our community's basic needs that go beyond food and shelter.
Open Arts Studio
Wednesdays, 2:00pm-4:00pm
Artspace, 378 Alymer St.
On Wednesday Afternoons, we host an open arts studio where everyone is welcome to come use the materials we have to explore with different types of art.
Dr. Brian Nichols, Art Therapist/Psychotherapist, leads the space.
"Art is neither a luxury nor a pursuit reserved only for the cult of the expert. Self-expression is an integral part of being human." Read more about the studio in this article published in Kawartha Now.
The River Magazine
The River Magazine is a local publication by and for people living on low income that showcases their writing, art and ideas. It serves as a platform for artistic and political expression.
Individuals are invited to submit their work to be featured in the magazine. All submissions will be considered for publication, and we will do our best to make space for all submissions that meet the criteria. Contributors who's work is included will be paid for their work.
The River Magazine was started by a committee of volunteers representing a range of non-profit organizations in 2017. We will continue the mission and vision of The River Magazine, but now as a project of One City Peterborough, supported by our staff and volunteers.
